The Center is located within the Department of Ophthalmology and the Farabi Eye Hospital. It serves as the headquarter for coordinating research activities.

We have monthly research council meetings in which research protocols are critically reviewed on methodological and ethical aspects (IRB); ranked and approved.

Methodology and biostatistics services and consultations on protocol development and manuscripts edit are routinely being provided.

From time to time, we have didactic courses on clinical research skills and concepts and lectures on advanced issues for our residents, fellows and faculty staff.

We are very productive in terms of clinical research publications. In fact, we have always achieved honors in the national annual evaluations of the research centers led by the MoHME.

We are making our best effort to expand our capacity and engagement on basic and epidemiological research. In addition to individual research efforts, we have study groups on Retinopathy of Prematurity, Glaucoma Imaging, and Public Health Ophthalmology.

We are a member of the National Research Network for Ophthalmic Diseases and currently host its Secretariat.

We are organizing an annual ‘Translational Ophthalmology” meeting since 2011.

We welcome academic partnerships in research and innovation. We will be more than happy to host visitors from the region and internationally here for scientific exchange and mutual research engagements.
