A-ROP Briefing and Orientation Workshops:

So far a hundred people comprising nurses, neonatologists, etc. have taken part into this program-the average length of this course is from 8 to 60 hours.

B-Observer fellowship in Retinopathy of prematurity for ophthalmologist:

 

--Eligible criteria:

     All ophthalmologists who are expert in indirect ophthalmoscopy.

 

--Course:

 

1-General ophthalmologist and fellowships except retina:

 

It will be 4 weeks minimum for ophthalmologists who are expert in indirect ophthalmoscopy. All ophthalmologists except retina fellowship must pass an exam that shows they are expert in indirect ophthalmoscopy.

 

First week: they will observe, history taking, neonate preparation for exam, dangers in exam of premature neonates, complication of drops, CPR in neonates, indirect ophthalmoscopy in premature neonates, classification and staging of ROP,physical exam reports, follow up  interval, treatment and post op follow up, regression and discontinuation of follow up.

Second week: observer must visit at least 30 premature neonates with supervision of attending and write the physical exam notes.

Third week: observer must visit the premature neonates’ independently and decide about treatment with supervision with attending.

Fourth week: observer must visit the premature neonate and write its note and decide about treatment and follow up interval independently .observer works with Retcam and tries to interpret its images.

 

2- Retina fellowships:

 

They need 3 weeks course at least. They can pass second ,third and fourth week in 2 weeks.

 

Certificate:

Observer must present an article in retina service journal club.

Observer must final exam at the end of fourth week.

The farabi ROP center will give the certificate to observers who were successful.

 

 

C-Observer fellowship in Retinopathy of prematurity for neonatologist and pediatricians:

 

--All neonatologist and pediatrician who are working in NICUs are accepted.

Course=2 weeks

First week=they observe the screening program, preparation of neonates ,complication of drops, exam steps, complication of exam, follow up interval, kinds of treatment, post operative management of general condition and ophthalmic care in NICUs.

Second week=They observe Retcam imaging .Then they will work with Retcam, at least in 15 premature neonates.

Certificate=They must present a lecture about their course. Then they will receive the Farabi ROP center certificate.

 

 

D-Observer course in Retinopathy of prematurity for NICU staff and general practitioner physician:

 

All NICUs staff and general physician, who are working in NICUs, are accepted.

Course=2 weeks

First week=they observe the screening program, preparation of neonates ,complication of drops, exam steps, complication of exam, follow up interval, kinds of treatment, post operative management of general condition and ophthalmic care in NICUs.

Second week=They observe Retcam imaging .Then they will work with Retcam, at least in 15 premature neonates.

Certificate=They must present a lecture about their course. Then they will receive the Farabi ROP center certificate.

 

 

E-Research fellowship of Retinopathy of prematurity:

 

All graduated of observer course of Farabi ROP center are accepted.

Preparation of proposal must be done by researchers.

Farabi ROP center will provide the facilities of case selection ,reports, financial supports ,analysis of data, article submission.
